Akela is now here in the US, my client having bought it from Charlie Smith last year.
I have serviced it and made a few improvements on it for him and both of us have really
enjoyed the car. It has been in good hands for the last sixty years and under the care of
very talented hands. It is ready for most anything and is in excellent form. It is in ready
to race condition and can also be driven on the road. It shows very well and always
intrigues people at concours and shows.
It is currently registered in the UK on its original plate numbers and comes with the
VSCC Log Book. The last time it was out in the UK was at Shelsey Walsh in 2003.
Akela is a very easy car to start and operate. It is started by a removable kick start lever
from the side. After flooding the carb it starts right up with a couple of kicks. It is a
pleasure to drive, and quite powerful with top top speed being close to 100 mph. It
handles wonderfully, the unique four speed chain drive system is very easy to shift
and has very impressive acceleration capabilities. The specifications follow.
